The organisers of the Wellbeing Debate have set up an online forum to help set the agenda for the event. You can contribute to it here.
Concerns over peoples health and the services provided by the NHS are likely to be a major factor in this election. The online forum provides a great opportunity to raise issues and debate them ahead of the Votepod event.
The Wellbeing Debate is taking place at 7.00pm in the AK Bell Library, Perth on Monday 16th April. There are very few places left so if you want to attend e-mail the organisers. Musical entertainment is provided by Michael Marra and St Andrew of the Woolen Mill.
The event is supported by Highland Spring.

" Community transport gets people to health appointments and out beyond their front doors, both of which make a huge contribution to the physical and mental health of people who may be isolated because of where they live or because they have difficulty accessing conventional public transport. Given this huge contribution to the health and wellbeing particularly of older, and rurally isolated people, where do the parties believe the responsibility for these services lies?"

The arts & culture are increasingly being called upon to expand their remit to help address social priority concerns from issues of individual wellbeing through to community regeneration and combating social exclusion.
Do the panel think this additional activity should be achieved through conventional arts funding arrangements or do they see other means of supporting this socially engaged practice ?

I'd like to ask the panel...Given that mental health is identified as a priority in many Joint Health Improvement plans across the country -
what would your party do in future to secure longterm funding of services
that are currently vulnerable to local authority and NHS budget 'efficiency
savings' [driven by the Scottish Executive] -
such as school counselling programmes , alcohol buddy support projects, or
drug and alcohol treatment services ?

I'd also like to ask...
Given that the 90% of prisoners are identified as having mental health
problems and 80% with alcohol or drug dependancy - what would your party
propose to improve preventive sevices thus enabling less use of prisons as
the end point for treatment service failure ?
